How to Setup a Website

When I graduated from college, I decided to build websites for a living. I felt it would be an opportunity for me to be entrepreneurial, as well as, generate a ‘nice’ income for myself.

Boy was I in for a rude awakening.

Being in business for yourself isn’t easy, but it isn’t hard either. There are challenges involved with being your own boss just like anything else. However, it’s the preparation and planning that you do before you make these types of decisions that will ultimately separate success from failure.

After spreading the word that I built websites, I made a name for myself as the “go to guy” for anything Internet related. This was great, but it also had its drawbacks.

Most notably was the fact that people (most of who said they were my friends) always wanted me to build a website for them or consult them on how to take their website to the next level. And of course they felt I should do it for a huge discount, while others felt I should do it for free.

I didn’t mind helping them, but at the end of the day, they weren’t helping me, so I chose to pass on those projects.

Lately, I haven’t been that involved with building websites as I have in the past, but I occasionally get the ‘Hey Dhane, can you show me how to setup a website‘ question. While I don’t mind helping these people out, I just don’t have the time like I did in the past (I would if they were paying though).

Although my current focus isn’t building websites, I still feel obligated to show people how to setup a website, and as of today, that’s been made so much easier for me.

If you ever need assistance on building a website, and want a simple ‘how-to’ guide on how to setup your first website, I’ve found an incredible website that will walk you from A-Z. It’s called the “Website Setup Guide” by Daniel Piechnick, a professional web designer from Adelaide, Australia.

It’s a very simple, yet highly informative guide that tells you everything you need to know about how to setup up a website. It’s so great, that it will now be my go-to resource for anyone who ever has a question about how to setup a website.

The site is free, and there are no fees you have to pay to access the information.

Enjoy!
